NACHES - Seasonal Motorized Trail Closures Lifted

Due to consistent warm and dry conditions coupled with volunteers working diligently to clear fallen trees, seasonal motorized trail closures have been lifted on the Naches Ranger District prior to the traditional opening date of June 15.

We have decided to lift the spring motorized trail closure before the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.  Our thought is that because many of the lower and mid-slope trails are dry, we want users to be able to enjoy a portion of the motorized trails during the nice weekend.  We also realize that people will come and ride the trails regardless of the closure.  However, we really want users to respect the fact that there are still sections of trail higher up that should not be used and resource damage will occur if they are.

We are hoping you all can spread the message for us.  Let your friends and fellow club members know that we want them to avoid the mud, water, and snow covered trails.  You folks are our best resource for education and getting the word out.  It’s very important to us that we provide trail access for the upcoming weekend but at the same time we don’t want to damage the roads and trails that you work so hard to help us maintain.

Let me know if you have questions or concerns.  We took this decision very seriously and discussed it at length with our OHV staff and the Ranger Kelly.  I have attached the press release we will be sending out.  We will also be posting on social media and the forest website.

Thanks!!
